ENGLISH AS A LINGUA FRANCA
Criticism, Attitude, and Identity
Federal University of Bahia
Department of Germanic Languages
WELCOME
This is an initiative of a small group of Brazilian researchers from Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Salvador, Brazil, with the objective of sharing our ideas, concerns, and discoveries related to the global spread of the English language, and its political, ideological, and pedagogic implications around the world, and more specifically in our instructional and social contexts. Here you will find different sections centered around the three main pillars of our interests of investigation, Criticism, Attitude, and Identity, closely intertwined with the condition of English as the world’s lingua franca. This is a door for new friends and colleagues to join the group and share their opinions, works, and interests with us. Contributions and suggestions are most welcome.
We hope you enjoy it!
